Walcott is a small, friendly rural primary school. The governors are looking to appoint a motivated, caring, enthusiastic teaching assistant to support teaching and learning within EYFS and KS2. The job will be split between supporting the reception class teacher and upper key stage two. This post will include one afternoon paid at TA 2 rate to deliver PPA cover for a KS2 class. This is a temporary post based on targeted additional funding. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of teaching and assessment of learning
  • Motivating and encouraging pupils to achieve their full potential
  • Delivering a PPA afternoon focusing predominantly on an art based activity

 

Experience of working within the current national or early year’s curriculum is preferable.

We are looking for candidates who have: experience of working in a similar role; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team; flexibility and adaptability; a willingness to learn and develop existing skills; a sense of humour; willingness to ‘go the extra mile’. 

The post holder is required to have GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English and hold or be working towards an NVQ Teaching Assistant qualification. Our school offers a nurturing and supportive environment, with a clear emphasis on the values of respect of friendship.
