In the last year our Trading Standards Team has made some very significant progress;

  • They removed nearly 2500 unsafe items from the marketplace.
  • They seized nealy 450,000 illiit cigarettes 50kg of illicit hand rolling tobacco
  • Prosecuted a fast-fit centre for supplying an unsafe car after it was returned with defective brakes
  • We had contact with over 220 scam victims
  • Supporting and providing complex and bespoke advice to prospering Lincolnshire Businesses

 We are interested in receiving applications from people who are persistent, determined, patient, thorough, pay attention to detail and have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.  Needless to say you will need to be an excellent communicator, have a professional yet personable manner and be extremely self-aware.

Ideally applicants will hold a professional qualification such as the Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards, however we will accept applications from those with a good grasp of mathematics, english  and science and the drive, ability and commitment to complete both the academic and practical coursework necessary to gain the recognised professional qualification. If you feel you can offer all of the above and more, then we can offer you fantastic training and a career for life. We can provide a full training package designed to take the right candidate from entry level through to becoming a fully rounded and qualified Trading Standards Professional. 

This role is permanent and will be generally working office hours; however there will be times where unsociable hours will be required…Rogue Traders don’t always stick to 9-5!  Due to the nature of the role a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle will be essential. The succesful applicant will need to undergo Police vetting.

At the current time during the Coronavirus restrictions,  all our employees are working from home if they are able to do so to support the health and safety of all of our colleagues.  We are embracing new ways of working and we are anticipating that remote working will continue to be a key feature of this role. You will be  given a nominated contractual work base and once current restrictions are lifted you will be required to commute to this work base when necessary.
