Are you passionate about SEND teaching?

Are you interested in supporting the Strategic development of the school’s Special Educational and Disability Needs (SEND) provision, with oversight of the day to day operation of the policy, with the aim of raising SEND pupil achievement and support the school and our families in raising attendance, investigating persistent absences and encouraging mental health and well-being.

This role will also involve supporting those families with Early Help process.

SENCO and Family Liaison Officer - Boston St Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy 

The post holder will promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils that they are responsible for or come into contact with.

This is a temporary, part time, role working 0.6 FTE per week with an anticipated start date of 1 September 2024. It is expected to last for up to 1 year maternity cover.

Saint Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy is a Primary school located in the market town of Boston in Lincolnshire, with good transport links. We continue to be a good school and our “pupils’ personal development is a strength of the school. Pupils learn how to persevere and how to be courageous, charitable, kind, respectful and compassionate. Pupils know what it means to be a good friend. They are interested in difference and diversity. We are part of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, bringing together the 36 Catholic Primary and Secondary schools in Lincolnshire, Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire.

You will:

  • Hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a SENDCo qualification.
  • Have previous experience working as a teacher and SENDCo within a primary School setting.
  • Have experience of working with families and of Early Help processes.
  • Be enthusiastic and have a positive attitude.
  • Have a passion for working with young people with SEND.
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment following safeguarding procedures.
  • Be innovative and resourceful.
  • Be proactive and methodical.
