This exciting opportunity has become available to join Engineering UTC Northern Lincolnshire. We are looking for a Second in Department - Design Technology/Engineering to join a growing UTC.
Engineering UTC provides a unique learning experience for our students, to lay vital foundations for their future careers in STEM.
As a member of our team, you can expect to teach smaller than average class sizes, be able to teach your specialism in way you may not have thought possible and very much play a key role within a dedicated team.
Second in Department - Design Technology/Engineering
Start Date 1 September 2025
The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher, with an excellent knowledge and understanding of Design and Technology and/or Engineering, who wants to further their career. Knowledge of T Levels and/or mechanical/electrical engineering would be advantageous, although is not essential. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students, equipping them with the skills and characteristics needed to ensure they are at the front of the queue for the best apprenticeships and university places.
The Engineering UTC is a 13-19 school (PAN 600) in Scunthorpe town centre which is supported by an impressive list of local, regional, national and multi-national companies and by educationalists with a track record of success including; Phillips 66, University of Hull, Care Plus Group, Tronox, Orsted, RWE, ORE Catapult, British Steel, Catch and SSE.
The curriculum and facilities are cutting edge including state of the art engineering workshops, CAD suites and a 3D print room and lead our students to apprenticeships in the engineering industry. The technology driven specialisms of the UTC focus on Manufacturing, Design, Systems and the associated engineering skills. As well as providing students with high levels of technical skills these specialisms are the inspiration for underpinning learning in the main STEM subjects. We have also introduced an exciting new second specialism in Health Sciences and Social Care.
The UTC curriculum and ethos enable students to become confident and independent through active and experiential learning. The UTC day mirrors that of the workplace, and we have created a high-level engineering professional environment where relationships are at the heart of everything we do.
