King Edward VI Grammar School (converted to Academy in September 2015) is seeking to appoint a highly organised and professional individual responsible for delivering an outstanding and effective financial and payroll support service to the School Community.

The post holder will ensure the efficient administration of the daily functions and routines of the School Finance Office and be responsible for carrying out many of the tasks and routines including monthly Payroll processes. The role will involve the provision of a full accounting service to the School and its staff including;  processing transactions, preparation of monthly management accounting information, cash-flow monitoring, budget reporting and monitoring,  preparation of statutory financial returns to the DFE/ESFA, Directors, Accountants, Senior Leadership Team etc. and ensuring audit compliance to the Academies Financial handbook. Production and analysis of ad-hoc reports and financial information to assist the Finance and Business Development Director, Headmaster and Board Directors in their decision making. In addition the post holder will act as Minute Secretary to the Board of Directors and will be expected to attend some evening Board meetings in fulfilling this role.

This is an exciting and varied role, and will suit those who can think on their feet, use their initiative and are well organised. The post requires someone who is proactive, enthusiastic with excellent inter-personal skills and has the knowledge and ability to identify opportunities for improving processes, reviewing workflows and implementing new systems/processes.

We ideally seek a person with proven financial management experience and a relevant financial qualification e.g. AAT; attention to detail, the ability to maintain confidentiality and interpret financial data are also essential. It is desirable that the post-holder is a competent user of Sage/Xero or other similar accounting package and be an advanced user of Excel.

The post holder will work closely with another Finance and Payroll Officer and will report to the Finance and Business Development Director.
