Deputy Head Teacher & Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO)
The Head Teacher and Governing Body are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious Deputy Head Teacher to become part of the Senior Leadership Team from September 2024.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the successful applicant will play a major role in contributing to the strategic direction of the school with a particular emphasis on ensuring that teaching, learning and assessment is robust and our school’s curriculum offer maximises pupil outcomes. The successful candidate will have a two-day per week teaching responsibility, and will also take on the role of the school’s Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO).

The successful candidate will:
- Be an excellent practitioner with experience of teaching EYFS and/or Key Stage One pupils
- Have successful leadership and management experience that has led to raising standards in learning, teaching and whole school progress
- Be accountable for securing the highest standard of teaching and learning and for raising standards through leadership of school improvement priorities
- Be able to demonstrate effective and creative leadership of teams in order to secure sustainable school improvement
- Have a thorough knowledge of safeguarding procedures and will take on the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Have responsibility for the day-to-day operation of provision made by the school for pupils with SEND and provide professional guidance in the area of SEND in order to secure high quality teaching and learning
- Maintain effective partnerships between parents, staff and external agencies in order to maximise pupil potential
- Have obtained or be working towards the NASENCO, or be willing to work towards the NPQ for SENCOs
- Take responsibility for the school in the absence of the Headteacher
