Democratic Services Officer
A rare opportunity has arisen to work within the Democratic Services Team, at the heart of Lincolnshire County Council and provide support to the Council's decision-making process.
A Democratic Services Officer is required on a full-time, permanent basis to join a professional and friendly team providing comprehensive support and guidance to Lincolnshire County Council's 70 elected members.
The role of the Democratic Services Officer is to contribute towards the successful delivery of the Council's decision-making process. This will include the successful management of formal meetings of the County Council including the preparation of agendas, the writing of formal minutes and the provision of Constitutional advice and the day-to-day provision of general advice and guidance to councillors, officers and members of the public as required.
The role will be based at County Offices in Lincoln although formal committee meetings are currently being held on a virtual basis in line with temporary legislation.
Ideally the successful candidate will already have a good understanding of the work of local government and an appreciation of the political nature of this sector. The post-holder will need to exercise a high level of sensitivity and diplomacy and will be expected to act in a politically neutral way at all times.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential along with the ability to write high quality reports, adjusting the method and manner of communication to suit different audiences. The Democratic Services Team work to strict deadlines and attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are also important. The post holder will also have a strong team ethic and a 'can-do' attitude to their work.
