About the Role

This post is responsible for managing a portfolio of high value and high risk procurement projects across a range of services (including IT, Construction, Consultancy, Waste, Transport), proactively working with the market and stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective value for money service provision. The successful candidate will implement specially designed and robust tender processes to support the procurement of critical infrastructure services.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly regarded Commercial & Procurement Team and to play a key role in its ongoing management and development. Leading reviews on the quality, relevance, performance and effectiveness of contractual arrangements with stakeholders, the postholder will oversee and lead on improvements to service delivery and cost effectiveness and contribute to the effective delivery of outcomes from new and existing procurement strategies.

About You

MCIPS qualified with a comprehensive understanding of EU procurement law, you will have experience of procurement in a public sector setting with excellent knowledge of the Public Contract Regulations. A natural networker, you'll be comfortable dealing with senior officers, members, key stakeholders, and external organisations. You will combine technical knowledge with strong commercial acumen, understanding the demands of the service and how best to generate and negotiate excellent value for money.

Strategically minded, you'll have experience with a diverse portfolio of high value, high risk commercial projects with excellent attention to detail. You will be required to manage demanding and competing priorities whilst working to tight deadlines and taking personal responsibility for contributing to the team vision of achieving Commercial Excellence. Your understanding of how value is generated from contracting will be the key to ensuring that we deliver fit-for-purpose contracts.
