Clerk to Governors –Commence as soon as possible

Salary: G3 pts 06-09: FTE £18,562- £19,698.

Hours: Part time - Approx. 126 hours per year

This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in the development of Westgate Academy.  

The School Governing Body invites applications for a Clerk to the Governing Body. The Governing Body is effective and contributes fully to the school’s success.  The Clerk will be accountable to the Governing Body, working effectively with both it, the Chair of Governors and the Headteacher.

The Clerk’s main role is to provide professional clerking services to the Governing Body and its committees.

You will:

  • Be able to take accurate minutes and produce well-presented minutes from your own notes for distribution
  • Collate and distribute agendas and associated paperwork in advance of meetings
  • Be available to take minutes at all meetings throughout the year.  (There are  normally 18 evening meetings a year)
  • Be available for additional clerking duties as necessary
  • Provide procedural and legal advice and guidance
  • Attend relevant training events
  • Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided
  • Candidates should be competent in the use of a word processor, email and internet and have access to a computer
  • You should have an interest in education, be tactful and able to deal with matters confidentially and with integrity.
  • You should be reliable and have a good sense of humour
