Childcare Assistant
19 hours 30 mins (8.15am-3.15pm, 3 days a week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) term time only.
Start ASAP - Initially temporary until 31st August 2025 (though it is expected this will become a permanent position pending September number on roll).
Wyndham Park Nursery School is a Local Authority Maintained Nursery School and we are looking for a childcare assistant to join our small, friendly and dedicated staff team.
The position is for 19.5 hours a week, Wednesday to Friday 8.15am to 3.15pm, during term time plus attendance at training days.
Ideally you must have an NVQ level 2 or 3 in childcare or a similar qualification
The position is to support the class team in both the 2-year-old room and the 3 and 4 year old room and you will have responsibility for a key group of children.
You will work under the direction of our excellent teachers and alongside our Early Years Practitioners who will support you. However, the ability to work on your own initiative is essential as you will be expected to use it to support children’s learning and development on a daily basis through small group sessions and during continuous provision. It is desirable that applicants will have good working knowledge of child development as well as previous experience of planning and assessing with reference to the EYFS curriculum.
You must have a passion for helping with children’s learning and a love of spending time following in the playful pursuits of 2, 3- and 4-year olds! You must be patient, kind and a great listener of children. Calmness, a good sense of humour and the ability to build relationships are essential qualities.
The post also requires good literacy skills and excellent communication skills as you will be expected to liaise with other team members, parents and other professionals from time to time.
We can negotiate the start date to suit you but we would like this to be as soon as possible due to our growing numbers.
