Mrs Mary King’s is a small well-maintained rural school set in mature grounds. The original school buildings date back to 1842 and has benefitted from extensions and internal modernisation in recent years.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated person with high standards who will take great pride in the quality of their work. This person will play a key role in maintaining our school site as Caretaker.
This position will include some responsibility for the security of the site, cleaning, minor maintenance repairs such as painting, installing wall fixings requiring the use of a drill, ensuring external areas are well-maintained for example clearing gutters & drains and playground of leaves, the testing of the fire alarm and emergency lighting systems and keeping records up to date.
The person appointed will need to be friendly, flexible and use their own initiative and contribute to the school community.
The hours of work are 21.25 worked over 5 days Monday to Friday - daily hours to be split into morning and afternoon as follows: morning 7.00 a.m. – 8.15 a.m.; evenings 4.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m.
The post is for 40 weeks per year which includes 2 weeks holiday cleaning throughout the school year.

Other duties will include:
- The successful candidate will be required to act as a key holder and be first point of call for the intruder alarm
- Unlocking and locking of the school at the beginning and end of the day
- Carry out and record statutory checks and help maintain Health and Safety records
- Some light maintenance of the school building
- Monitor site stock and order supplies
- Willingness to attend training courses including Health and Safety
