 About the role

As our Caretaker, you will be responsible for tasks such as unlocking and locking the site, supervising contractors performing maintenance and repairs, and conducting health and safety building checks. You'll also carry out basic minor repairs, assist with installations and temporary exhibitions, and participate in the out-of-hours call-out procedure when required.

This is a part time position for 20 hours a week and can be arranged over 3 or 4 days to suit your preference. However, flexibility on both sides will be essential to meet the needs of the service. For example, if we are holding an event, working days may need to be adjusted by mutual agreement, with ample notice provided in advance.

About you

This is a unique site with a varied and interesting role that would ideally suit someone who is adaptable, creative, and eager to take on new challenges. The Caretaker has the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, requiring a mix of problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration, making it perfect for someone who enjoys variety and thrives in a fin a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

You will have previous experience of working within a building maintenance role, or similar, and be able to work flexibly on using your own initiative.

As Caretaker you may be expected to travel to other cultural sites, therefore a driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
