The Governors of this busy, successful, city centre school are seeking a hardworking, flexible Assistant Caretaker to join the talented and dedicated premises team.

This post will be for 30 hours per week, to be worked 12noon – 6.00pm each day. The post is for 52 weeks of the year and a holiday allowance will therefore apply.

Working as part of the premises team, the role is key to ensuring that the site and premises are safe, secure and well organised so that the children have the very best learning environment. Duties will include general maintenance, cleanliness and security of the school, including appropriate record keeping. The role is vital to ensure the premises (both internally and externally) is in a safe, sound and secure condition for staff, pupils, parents and community users. You will need to understand and operate the school’s security and fire alarm systems and may be required to open and/or lock up after school lettings and events. There will also be outside work maintaining the school grounds and wider site.

The successful applicant will have excellent DIY skills with the ability to carry out a wide range of minor repairs independently. If you have a plumbing or electrical qualification, this would be helpful. Candidates will also need to demonstrate the ability to multi-task, have a positive attitude and show a commitment to achieve the best results for the maintenance of our school. Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage.
