Lincolnshire County Council has an exciting career opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Arboricultural / woodland professional to join our Sustainability and Natural Environment Team, playing a key role in managing our existing trees across the county.
About the Role
Lincolnshire County Council own and manage several thousand trees across the county. Your role will involve providing advice on the management of them, including health and safety.
Working with a diverse tree demographic, will allow you to influence, protect, manage, enhance and shape the future of Lincolnshire’s treescape.
We have set an ambitious target to plant over 750,000 trees around the county in the coming years, you'll to contribute to this project and help implement our Tree Strategy.
Typically you will expect to:
- Provide expert advice to the County Council’s Highways Team regarding maintenance and management of trees along Lincolnshire’s highway network. This includes contract management, monitoring and specifying works to address highway safety issues and programmed maintenance.
- Advise on proposed developments across the County.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Lincolnshire Tree and Tree Planting Strategies.
About You
We're looking for someone with a real passion for trees and the environment, combined with excellent people skills—you’ll be engaging with everyone from homeowners to planners. You should have strong knowledge of arboriculture, including tree health, management, and relevant legislation. A relevant qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a similar field, along with hands-on experience, is essential. You'll be based in Lincoln, but travel will be required Countywide and since trees don’t always grow near bus stops, a full UK driving licence is a must!

The Arboricultural Officer will sit within the Sustainability and Natural Environment Team, playing a key role in managing our existing trees across the county. This role is fundamental in providing the support to maintain and manage the County Council’s tree stock.
