15 hours per week with a staggered weekly increase to 22.5 hours. This has further potential to increase depending on circumstances.

About the role:

We need a skilled 1:1 Learning Assistant to enable the pupil to learn as effectively as possible by:

  • Ensuring the pupil is able to use equipment and resources through high quality modelling and support.
  • Motivating and encouraging the pupil as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to their needs.
  • Liaising with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals about Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP), contributing to the planning and delivery.
  • Providing nurture and high levels of social support.
  • Consistently and effectively implementing agreed behaviour management strategies.
  • Helping to make appropriate resources to support the pupil.
  • Providing intense support and guidance using knowledge of pupils’ needs to ensure continuity.

 

Desirable knowledge and experience:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant within a Primary school.
  • Knowledge of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum.
  • An understanding of inclusion, making the curriculum accessible to all learners.
  • The ability to work in a team in order to achieve successful outcomes for learners.
  • Candidate must possess at minimum a relevant NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
